After some negotiations with my better half, she allowed me to move the tank to a different spot in the house which would allow me to do AWC! So what did I do....GOT A BIGGER TANK!!! :D and told her it was her fault!!!

Beginning of the year...she wanted to get Dory, I told her that fish would require a bigger tank soon or rehomed.
We already have a sailfin and yellow tang in QT and figure to get them all in at the same time!
Hey...she wanted Dory!!!

So for the last 2 months I've been piecing this together!
Purchased a used tank on offer-up and toss the homemade cabinet in the trash.
It was painted over multiple times and it just looked ugly!

3/4 hard plywood
AnyConv.com__IMG_0358.jpeg

Glued up to create 1.5"
200'ish gallon this thing has to hold up!
AnyConv.com__IMG_0364.jpeg

Waited a few days to apply the laminate
AnyConv.com__IMG_0386.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0389.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0391.jpeg
Notched the side to "rest" the 2x6 on the top and the 2x4 on the bottom!
AnyConv.com__IMG_0397.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0399.jpeg

AnyConv.com__IMG_0404.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0405.jpeg
Routed the sides as to add a C-channel for RGB lighting!
AnyConv.com__IMG_0401.jpeg

Here's what it looks like inside!
AnyConv.com__IMG_0449.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0452.jpeg

Also got a bunch of "legos" my attempt at the NSA aquascape
AnyConv.com__IMG_0365.jpeg IMG_0545.JPG IMG_0542.JPG AnyConv.com__IMG_0561.jpeg
Blue tape was to get the door measurements!
The "Top" has a 3/4" overhang...So tank top and doors are all flush!

Tank had 2 x 1.25 drain...so what did I do...Cut it out and drilled the tank!
EMS 32" overflow
Got 1/4" glass cut to size and silicone the bottom drain
AnyConv.com__IMG_0503.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0529.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0577.jpeg AnyConv.com__IMG_0584.jpeg

So as of today 10/4...leak test for the last 3 day as I also reseal the tank.
Can't tell if it leaking as here in Miami, we've gotten rain everyday in the afternoons
AnyConv.com__IMG_0599.jpeg

Also added a couple of leveling casters
IMG_0605.JPG

This week I hope to building the controller board along with a floating canopy!
Doors are last.

I want/need to have this done the week before Thanksgiving!
Part of the negotiations with the Mrs, she handed me "honey to do list" which has to be done before the holidays!
Note to self and others - Negotiation 101: Read the terms before accepting or signing!!!

Thanks!
Hope to get s few thing accomplish this week!
Working on the controller board. It's going to be mounted on drawer slides.
This way I can have access to the back for additional equipment as needed.

Back focus on the build after breaking down the tank in an emergency due to a velvet outbreak! Lost a few but the rest are in qt!

Well It's 80% done!
After multiple set back tank is wet and my fin buddies swimming around and no water on the floor!

1" PVC all around expect to the reactors which are 1/2"
  • Bashsea 4-12 (Carbon & GFO)
  • Bashsea PM1 (Bio Pellets)
  • Turbo Aquatics Algae Scrubber
2 return pumps run everything!
COR20 to the DT via 1" to dual outlets running 1" RFG (Glad I went with 1")
Aquabee UP 12000 to run filtration and chiller. Currently running at 25% this thing rocks!

Not pictured, I have a 40W UV behind the stand for easy access and lines running to the back shed.

My ATO, AWC and Chiller are all about 25-30FT from the DT
AWC.jpg
There I have my
RODI w/ Aquatic Life Smart Buddie Booster Pump
FMM, DOS and an EB4
Neptune optical sensors (High/Low) on my FW will auto fill and on the SW will shut down my DOS if empty.
(I have cleaned the tubing since this pic was taken in Nov.

I wanted a floating canopy that I could "flip" up if I needed access and came up with this

IMG_0876.JPG IMG_0875.JPG

Screw so I can adjust level. I've added an aluminum "plate" so all the weight is not on just end of the bolt.
Disregard the Mrs. pink level...I can't remember who say it here on R2R but "anything within arms reach of the tank is far game"

IMG_0878.JPG IMG_0887.JPG IMG_0880.JPG IMG_0879.JPG

8" Base Board and the sky boxes were a prefect height!
IMG_0890.JPG IMG_FTS_Empty.jpg

My equipment board w/ access to storage and misc. stuff.
IMG_0859.JPG IMG_0860.JPG

Now it Dec and full tank shot...a few days before water and the first disaster!

IMG_1083.JPG

My X-mas gift Water 12/24!!!!
IMG_1093.JPG IMG_FTS1.jpg IMG_FTS2.JPG

3 days later...Leak from the bottom brace.
Tank is euro brace top and bottom...I leak tested the tank and didn't notice any leaks!
IMG_Leak.jpg

Dissemble everything, moved tank to back yard to reseal

IMG_1141.JPG

Resealed and leaked tested by filled the tank about 1/4 up! Jan 16 refilled the tank and leak #2
I did not realize, I cracked the external overflow some where in the process of moving the tank!
Drained the tank below the overflow to stop the leak. Angry I left it alone for a few day.

Had to drain enough so I can move it away from the wall.
Ordered the overflow. Shot out to Taylor from EMS, he rushed me a new overflow within days!

IMG_Leak2.JPG

Soooo....As of superbowl sunday
IMG_FTS_Super Bowl.JPG IMG_1239.JPG

Missing the front doors which I hope to get done this weekend!

Quick video...
Noise you hear is from my 2-QT HOB filters which I just broke down 1.
The EMS overflow is super quiet and easy to tune.
Few of my survivors from the previous tank...I lost a lot of fish to velvet or flukes.
These guys made it thru QT since 11/7

Looks great at least. Resealing can be a nightmare but a good skill to have, some people just don't get it!
