Jager Eheim vs. Thermocontrol E-series

What is the difference in the Jager Eheim and the Eheim Thermocontrol E-series? Is it worth the price difference or is the Jager fine?

Also, I have 220 g. volume and live in Texas. I do keep my house cool in winter (63-65 F). I'm planning on 2 with controller? What wattage for each one?

I would run two 500 watt finnex titaniums
I have ran one for 7 years with no falt . Was not going to push the limits. They are one of the best heaters imho.

I have been running jaegers for the last 15 years (freshwater too), they have always done right by me. I have not tried the e series, but imo, jaegers just work. Run a pair of lower wattage ones, where one by itself cant heat the tank. Run them off of an inkbird controller, set the heater tstat to clip off a degree warmer than the inkbird. Then you have redundant safeguards. If your temp is a degree high, you have a bad contoller, if it is a degree or 2 low, you probably have a bad heater.

This right here. The running two at lower watts. The last thing you want to do is boils your reef to death!! They can survive cooler temps if worst case happens. But anything above 82* lord have mercy. Haha. Not all will tap out but…. they will be ticked that is for sure.

Also which dual inkbird unit do you guys recommend? I saw there were two that had Wi-Fi one says it's for aquariums. I don't know if that's the one I need to get or what the difference in the two dual unit options are.

The thermocontrol shut off when they are pulled out of water to prevent overheating and exploding. I have one for my salt mixing bucket but I have never tested it. I use the IM Helio system and I love it. Jaegers work great! I would start with 650 watts and see if that gets you to your desired temp

This right here. I have been on Eheims for the last 10+ years and never had a failure. And running them on a controller with the heater itself sat just a scooch above the set point of the controller (and I also set one heater a little warmer than the other).

220 total volume and lowest house temp in winter is 63 to 65. I'm in Texas btw.

two 250s should be fine. Am pretty sure that’s what I have (the length of the tube made me not choose the 300s) and my nominal volume is around 300G

My brother has a 300g tank that stays at about 77 with a 79 setting. Garage tanks and temps get down to 45*. He’s using a 500 watt from what I know. And no issues. So two 250’s should do it.

I have a 150 and running a 500 and stil no issues at all.

I have the Eheime thermocontrol e+ 250. For the 1st year, it was OK. But trying to get it this 2nd year, there is no way to connect, and it's a useless piece of crap. Eheime has no detailed manual online. At least I could not find one. Once I found it was still useless. The red reset button does nothing. Hope they stand behind their 3-year warranty. I will update.
