Its odd, once you open the box and light hits the coral and nems. They are done being in the bag. They want out.

This is so true. The utter chaos was completely closed up when I saw it last. Now? It’s completely open!

How long do you suggest I temp acclimate them for? (They have been in there for around 17 minutes so far)

Not sure how to test sg in such a small bag? I have a primitive hydrometer. :/



Much much better than I expected it to be honestly.

So when I add it to the tank, do I try to get it to attach to the rock work?

Place it in the approximate place you want it. Should start trying to attach within a few minutes. Turn flow down until it's reasonably attached. Then back to where it should be.

Until Temps are the same lol.... no really you have to be able to measure temp and salinity in both one way or another...

Alrighty, so the nem is officially in the tank:

Not sure how to tell when the nem has suctioned it’s foot to the rock? It’s staying in that position though, so I don’t know.

The coloration on these utter chaos are insane:

And the sheer size of the purples??!? So juicy!

(Here again, pictures do absolutely ZERO justice. Plus I had to back way up and turn on the whites, because the device I’m using now has such a trashy camera)

nem looks very pretty. My purples just don't want to open, only 1 of the 4 polyps open up anyhow. Oh well. Nice chaos!

Im going to wait just a little longer before turning the filter back on. Still not sure how to tell if the nem is fully attached yet.

The purples are awesome. Very large polyps. One of the polyps is even splitting!? Didn’t even know that’s how zoas grew... thought they grew like palys.

And it did indeed! Seems firmly attached now. I did go ahead and turn the filter on, as it seemed to be settled. Got some nice bubbles forming already.

I’ll get some pictures with my good camera tomorrow.

Ah, that sucks man, really sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will come in tomorrow and will be ok!

Oh, and I’m also considering moving the digi closer to the surface, Aka on the rock work. (Just so I can clear up some room on the sand bed, and remove those ugly plastic cups.)

However, I don’t know how I will attach it yet. I really just need to take a dremel to that top rock and go crazy on drilling holes for frag plugs.

I take pliers to the bottom of the plugs and break off the bottom part so it’s just the disk then mount them.

I’ve done that with several, but then I don’t know how to attach them to solid rock. Tried super glue, and that didn’t go so well...

You have to use super glue/cyanoacrylate gel (the regular kind is too runny). Here’s a good tutorial, almost identical to why I do, it’s really very easy.

Ok, here again, I’m using the crappy iPad camera to take these:

Im also using an orange medicine bottle so I get some color, and it’s not all blue.

All of these actually look pretty dang close to what I’m seeing, except for the big colony, it’s not that green.

The BTA did slide off the top of the rock and onto the side, but I think that’s because it was too much flow? Looking much better now. If you zoom in, you can see those nice bubbles!
