Pond Shield inside, Semco on the outside. Glass not in yet...maybe tomorrow. Will do baffles after the glass is installed.

Leak testing the sump. Once this part is done, I'll level the stand a little better and then put it into it's perm position and then add the baffles.

Getting closer. Added custom baffles, plumbed the bean overflow to the Reefmatt 1200, added a new laundry sink, started the plumbing for the sediment filter before the RODI unit. The RODI unit in the picture is for the home and won't be used for the tank.

Tied the sediment filter into my home water supply and put a 1/2" MIP x 1/4" compression at the end..this is where the RODI water will source from.

Leak testing was awful..the copper unions had nicks on them and I also didn't think I was squared up on one side...so was battling leaks. Went to HD and went through about 10 packs of unions before I found 2 good ones with no nicks, but all is ready now. Just waiting on the John Guest adapter to arrive.

Moving along slowly. Return plumbing finished. RODI plumbing in progress. Having a hard time finding the right 1/4" adapter for my supply..another one coming. May just need to redo that and go with something else. Will be working on water storage and ATO next. Also, about 300lbs of Marco Rocks just arrived. The wife and I are gonna start our NSA adventure.

If the cats get in the tank you can say you got catfish for your first fish in the tank

Inching closer and closer. Electrical all in place. 3 dedicated 20amp and 1 shared 15amp. Went with 2 Kessil A9Xs.
Decided to return (2) MP40s and go with the new XF350s. Wife wasn't thrilled with the dryside look of the MP40s given our setup and I agree.

Going to get a controller next...most likely CoralVue...I'm not feeling the Apex this time around.
Need to work on the mixing station plumbing, as well as ATO next.

Yes, the biggest update is that I am a professional procrastinator. Some spotty work here and there, but often weeks at a time of no progress. I'll post some pics soon...actually filling it up with RODI water and it's just about done. Will let it circulate like that for a week or so to check for leaks. Pics soon.

Ok...peer pressured by internet strangers. :) Here are some pics I just took.
One issue I was on the look out for and it actually happened was the Ghost Overflow was leaking through the holes I drilled for it. The plywood backing was not a smooth surface and I never really put effort to make it so after a couple layers of fiberglass and pond shield. So both gaskets would not sit flush and...leaking. I asked in another thread and the response was to use silicon which was on my mind anyway...of course Synergy Reef wouldn't really touch my question and just gave me the stock answer of we don't recommend an install of this nature...or something like that.

I'm not proud of it, but it's not leaking anymore. Put silicon on the gaskets and then that went up against the backwall and filled in the voids..at least that is how I envision what happened. One of the pics below shows a dry overflow box as the water is not yet up to the weir teeth. Lesson learned for a future build.

The mixing station is the best I could come up with in the space I had to work in. I wanted side by side, but just wouldn't work in the space, so the top 55g will be RODI and the bottom the salt mix...gravity fed to it. There is also a valve so I can dump the water directly into my auto top off container and another to output right there by the station. The salt mixing station has paths to go into the sump or the DT directly, as well as a spout right there.

I'm going to leak test the plumbing for a week running fresh water only and I'll turn on the heaters and get it to lower 70s. I'll add salt to get to 1.0 and then crank up the heaters to 88 degrees and then will add ammonia and bacteria and start the cycle. That's the plan.

For the OCD types...no, the wiring won't stay like this..just getting things going and will tidy it up. The whole room is a mess right now.

Based on feedback I've received from others and internet research, looks like well water inherently comes in with excessive CO2 leading to premature Anion resin depletion...wonderful. I knew I had ****** city well water with high TDS, but wasn't aware of the CO2 issue. Looks like I'm going to have to aerate the water before it gets to my DI stage.

I see two different ways to accomplish this, but going through Anion resin and this rate is not a sustainable option. I'll figure out which option I'm going to go with. Either aerate the water in a separate container or some sort of PVC contraption pre-DI that others have done.

Ok, so got the Anion usage figured out with using a separate brute in my garage to bubble the water for 24 hours and then pumping it through DI into my fresh water storage.

Attempting to fishless cycle my tank, but I think I fried Dr. Tim's One and Only when I had it shipped from BRS on one of the hottest few days of the summer back in July/August and then it sat in my fridge. Ammonia is at 4ppm and not coming down, zero nitrites. My tank is dry sand/rock 100%.

So I have 80lbs of Ocean Direct sand arriving today along with 16oz of Fritz's bacteria. That should do the trick and get this process started.

Great thread and great build. Amazing rock work. I’ll have to copy that in my next tank set up :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Fritz I feel creates bad bacteria blooms. Night out 2 bacteria starter gives great results and will cycle a tank very quickly since your starting with dry rock

Thank you. It's been a long, procrastinating process. Almost ready though.

Well, Nitrites just went bye bye. Soo added some more Ammonium Chloride or whatever the F it's called...meaning don't abuse me if I got it wrong...we'll see what the readings are tomorrow.

Starting to dial the temp back and bring the salinity up. I bought 20lbs of TBS live sand, coming next Tuesday I hope. Will use that to get a little more diversity in the tank. Will also be ordering some copepods.
