Been looking for a stand for a IM 25g lagoon. Came across a couple of jbj stands that fit the foot print. One hesitation I have is that they are made of MDF. Any have any experience with them as far as holding up. Once mdf gets wet it swells and falls apart.

MDF seems like the worst possible choice for an aquarium stand, but honestly most stands you buy at a typical pet store are made from MDF, and indeed they do hold up pretty good. But if I was to build a stand, that's the last material I'd use.

I agree

I've owned jbj 65 gal with stand, no issues...
shouldnt be any concerns as many manf still make'em. Realistically, the only time you may get water on things is during a water change. Unless you're a messy water changer lol. should be 100% fine.

Thanks for that vote of confidence. How long have you owned the stand?

So I recently got got the jbj cubey 15 gallon stand from liveaquaria since I had store credit with them after a failed order.

Low and behold my crappy luck. They send me white instead of black.

The stand assembly instructions were not correct and didn't match at all.

It was not stable. It had screws that would normally screw in and then you lock it in with cams, but the wholes were bigger and it came with these larger plastic parts where it screws into the wholes, then the screws go into it.
Not stable at all!

On top of that 1 of the leveling feet completely snapped.

Its sad my aqueon stands were better quality. Might not have leveling feet. But at least it was sturdy.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like it’s hit or miss with them. I’ll probably keep looking.
