I have the pump. Running 4ft of head pressure and I'm not that impressed. It's a hot running pump just a heads up.

I don't know much about the older version. I honestly would just go with an entirely different pump. I know I will be changing here soon

I have a DCT15000 been running about a year as a return pump and just picked up a DCP 15000 as a backup. I don't have it running so I can't tell you about it. Both DCP models have much better rated max head heights then the DCT version of them.

But I do have the DCP 18000 running @ 100% on my skimmer right now.

I'm very impressed with it so far. It's not hot at all nor is the controller or the power brick it comes with which I'm impressed with the controller as well. I actually just ran and grabbed them with my hands to see. The power adapter is warm and the controller is cool to the touch. The Pump itself hasn't raised my water temp any significant amount that I can see. I have 4 temp probes in my tank and tracking my heaters run times which have been consistent.

The controller is a huge change over previous models. Like comparing it to my DCT 15000 controller.

The DCT has a very basic controller with 10 speeds and not as much head height rating and pulls some more watts.

The DCP changed to a sine wave, has 1% increments in speed starting at 30%, the controller will also show you how many watts are being sent to the pump, pulls a little lower watts and has higher head height ratings

It's also nice it comes with slip adapters but make sure to bring them to the hardware store to match up exactly what you need.

Just need to bring the slip part.

I'm not sure China understands inches. lol

I'm trying to get to 1" and looks like the 1.5" included fitting is 1.5" on the outside but seems slightly bigger.

1 1/2" coupler doesn't fit on the 1 1/2" slip fitting included. But a 1 1/4" bushing fits inside.

So, that lines up with standard schedule 40 size for 1 1/4" pvc with outside diameter around 1.6"

So weird....
