Jebao DXP-1500 advice

It looks like Jebao and Hygger sell the same 400GPH pump for $60. The Jebao DXP-1500 and Hygger HG105-1500 look exactly the same, and sell for the same $60.

Are they reliable? I'm contemplating the Sicce Syncra 1.0 for $50 or the TMC1500 for $100. But the Jebao/Hygger is in the middle in price and has the features of the TMC1500.

I like jebao pumps. But, as with everything else, I'm cautious of 1st Gen designs. I would stick to one of their more conventional(proven) designs, like this.

I bet you'd get your $50's worth out of the less expensive one, and 'when' it finally kicks the bucket, you've still got another $50 in your pocket for a brand new replacement to carry you even further into the future.

That said, I have run a DCP 5000 (like @Reefering1 mentions) 24/7 for about 5 years straight (and have never cleaned it once).

Same here. Dcp 18000 running for 8 years with zero maintenence. Another 20000 going for almost a year, same story.

Something to consider, that I rarely see mentioned, is oversizing pumps. If you want 400gph, a 400gph pump will only push that when spotless and clean. This isn't the reality in reef tanks, unless you want to clean everything every couple weeks(not realistic for most, long term). But if I want 400gph, and pumps are most efficient running around 50%; then I would get a pump that does double the gph, while ran at about50%.
So for your desired 400gph, I would be looking for something around 1600gph; controllable dc, of course. You can turn it down at 1st, and adjust up in a few months, once it's dirty, and likely never need to worry about it again.


What size tank are we talking about? Return pump?

I think reef2reef site is a for-profit making company. They're probably trying to drive engagement with their AI "features". I'm not sure I like it for a hobby forum.
