Hello,
I’m considering to buy a second hand juwel rio 240.
I would like to change the illumination and try to adapt under the lid more powerful bars (Orphek, AI Blade, or similar). At the same time I would like to keep the lid to reduce evaporation. Has someone had experience with changing the lights to this tank?
Or someone could suggest another tank with lid where this would be possible?
Thanks

I've got a similar tank and wanted to keel the lid on for the same reasons.
Ended up going with the AI Blade Grow. Great in such a confined space but lacks a bit of spectrum.
So now Im experimenting with a custom aliexpress bar to supplement the spectrum.
There arent alot of options out there with such little mounting height, please noyify me if you find something

Im lucky there are a couple of options for mounting to the lid on my tank. Dont remember how it is on Juwel.

Thanks, I was looking at AI blade as well. In Rio you have 2 transversal reinforcing bars that cross the lid and you could lay one or two lights on these bars.
I’ll let you know if a discover other solutions.
How is with the AI Blade? Is it cooling enough with the lid on?

Yes, cool enough. I am only running it at 50% but it does not get too warm.
I saw a video somewhere where they were being temp tested at 100%, wasnt too bad. But that was not in an enclosed canopy like ours.

I am planning to do something similar. I had a Juwel Rio 450 in the past and doubled up the T5 lighting so I had 4 x 54w T5's under the hood with individual reflectors. You can get flap sets that allow for two juwel lighting units. This was enough for pretty much growing any corals in the hobby apart from hight light demanding sps. I have wandered if AI blades would be any use under the flaps I imagine the brace bars would block some of light. This doesnt really seem to effect the T5's though.
