Super excited to receive a frag of Jason Fox Halloween Chalice yesterday. I floated for temp and then drip acclimated for 15 minutes followed by a 5 min dip in CoralRx before placing in bottom, shaded spot in tank. However it started to quickly go downhill afterwards. Below are some
current pictures....any advice very appreciated at this point.
I placed the chalice in a shaded spot near the bottom of the tank in low-moderate flow. Several minutes, I noticed white stringy material coming off of it, however I understand corals can do this when stressed and believed this to be temporary so I didn’t make much of it.
After a couple of hours, I noticed it started to lose the lose color and I could start to see the edge of the skeleton exposed around outer rim.
As of late last night, it seems it has lost all color and continues to slime.
Any idea if this could be temporary and likely possible for the coral to recover, or is it unlikely?
The coral had good color in the center but a white rim around it when I first unpacked it, not sure if that’s normal or unusual for this type of chalice.
For reference, my water params are:
Salinity: 1.025 sg
ph: 8.20-8.04
Temp: 77.1 F
Alk: 9.18 dKh
NO3: 8 ppm
PO4: 0.16 ppm
Mg: 1335 ppm
Ca: 430ppm
