Awesome rockscape! I'm learning/catching up after being out of the hobby for about a decade too. But since we don't buy live rock straight out of the ocean very much and dry rock weighs so much less than wet/live... does the weight matter as much? Looks like you have a good bit of surface area with the different structures and lots of places for coral and also fish to swim around and hide behind. I'm curious if you know about how much the weight matters and how it differs with dry rock? Sorry if I missed it but do you plan to put sand in?
Your cabinet build for the controllers is awesome!
Thanks! Honestly I'm not totally sure. Things have changed so much but with that said. I have always used mostly dry rock in my builds in the pass as well. Back then I still did the 1-1.5 pounds per g. I will stay close to that now as well. I did add a few more "modular" pieces for height that would be about 45# in DT and I'll put those ceramic blocks in the sump for more surface area.

Gear cabinet starting to come together nicely. Thought about getting those fancy brackets to hold all the power bricks but velcro and a couple screws did the trick and looks clean. I relocated the ecotech pump controllers to the front where the American dj power strip is.

Got the controller center cabinet all wired up nicely. Labeled and ran all cords with velcro so I can individually just stick it out of the way neatly but easy to take cords out if needed. Now just need to take the 30g cube down and bring in the 66g sca.

What a great setup and very well thought out. Loving your scape minimal is appealing to the eyes with many places for coral.

I think I'm done dry fitting the plumbing. Bean animal drains and return has 2 ports to run reactors later down the road. Am I missing anything?

Pretty much done. Pretty happy how everything turned out. I want a tabling acro for the top center piece Once the system is ready for sps. What do you guys think is the best tabling acro? Please post some pics. Thanks

Got most everything button up. Added second set of dose and ddr. Only thing left is to add a Trident and a cheato reactor.

Honestly don't have a fish list other then a couple clowns and a coral beauty I have in my 30g cube rn. But that was also my concern as well with the minimalist approach. Not much hiding space for fish. I think I will go with the 1st with more aquascape. Gives them more places to hide.
I know this response is months later, but I’m new and looking at scapes for ideas. I love the first one you did!! Minimalist is nice too, but really like the original design! I’ll keep reading to see which you ended up with!
