The one thing I find annoying about the whole introduce yourself forum is when people introduce themselves asking a question and so many people greet them and pay no attention what ever to the question asked. It's like the greeting isn't even sincere because no attention is paid the content of the post. JMO.

I see that sometimes, but it doesn’t mean they are insincere, imo. They just may not know the answer to the question. Also some people (staff) may have auto replies and the post may not be read. I myself read every post and answer any questions as best I can. It is also a good time to introduce how the forum works, and point them to the correct one to ask their question.

Instead of just copy and pasting the same gif or image more people should do what I do and try and help out on the beginners threads. I have been practically the only one on the beginners stocking thread and I could really use some help.

Obviously the content creators led those folks astray when they told them to post on R2R without specifying which thread. The one has over 2 million subs, so that’s why it got flooded with those here.

I see it on every introduction asking a question. If I were new asking a question and received those I would question the sincerity because my post isn't even being read. Maybe I'm just sensitive :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Actually I do if I see it but I normally only look at the ones that mention Ohio

EDIT : I'm also a bit curious why you encourage people to get more badges when I read a post where you stated you have badges turned off so you don't even see them? Just curious as to the motive not trying to be confrontational;)

I’m opposed to trying to get folks who want more fish beyond the pair of Nemo-clowns that they already have in their delux 15 cube with rocks and the anemone.

I saw one recently and I didn’t have

idea how to explain the situation without jumping down their post.

OK, I have a question about the welcome threads that I haven't been able to figure out.

Being a noob, I tend to only jump in on the welcome threads when there is a connection like they are from my area, or have a similar interest, or maybe they asked a question I happen to feel qualified to answer.

However, everytime I post something in a welcome thread it seems like everyone who comes after me likes my post. Is this an etiquette thing I am missing? Was I "supposed' to do that as well?

I'm not ranting or complaining. Every forum has it's cultural norms. This place is no different, but in 18 months I haven't gotten the hang of this particular quirk.

I have a similar question, I don’t know how to turn off badges and I still see all that Matt has and it’s driving me crazy because I don’t know how to shut them off and I don’t think Matt does either?

Not to mention that I am crazy with a raging jealousy since He has more Badges than me.
