Hi all, I've had this yellow belly regal for a bit over 2 years and this is the first time I've seen something like this.

None of the other fish have visibly shown this (to my knowledge) and there has been no new (wet) introductions to this system for at least a year. All fish eat normally and none are thin/lumpy.

All fish have prophylactically gone through prazipro, metronidazole, and levamisole (as far as relevant medication) prior to introduction a long time ago but I just wanted to be sure that my assessment is correct before I attempt any potentially unneccesary actions.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like a product of excess mucus in the stomach lining as it lacks tell tale sign of internal issue. If you are feeding foods such as mysis shrimp, clam and brine shrimp- it will cause the feces to produce this stringy mass often mimicking internal issues Feed some TDO pellet foods which will change consistency

They normally do get a mixture of dry daily (new life spectrum + nori) but when my female porcupine has eggs, everyone else gets more than usual to eat since shes not hogging all the food (in todays case its extra pe mysis) until after she passes the eggs.
Glad to hear my initial assumption of it being excess frozen food seems to be correct.

If you have not added anything in a year, as @vetteguy53081 mentioned, it's likely excess mucus. Mg has a positive effect on digestion, and low mg can cause digestion issues in some species. Even in fowlrs, ca and mg should be maintained at least reef levels, these are necessary elements to fish health and fish do absorb elements from the water column. I maintain 1400ppm of mg in my predator tanks, and when I suspect an issue, I raise to 1600ppm. Some of my scorps actually poop like dogs, and I've seen the effects of low mg and when I've raised mg.

My mag is maintained at ~1300 with ca at ~430 and alk at ~8-9 respectively in this particular tank. Nitrates are at .1-.5 typically (registers as 0 on other test kits) and phosphates are .45
