So the title says it all, I'm retiring my tank and picked up a fluval 13.5 and was wondering if the NooPsyche K7 pro iii would work on the fluval 13.5 or would it be overkill for what I want. Gonna try to make a mixed reef out of the tank eventually.

Sounds like a bit big to me. Not sure your dimensions but the spill over would be huge. Mount like 3 to 4 inches over tank would be my guess.

It does, but if I can save some money on an upgrade over the stock lights that'd be great. I have it mounted fairly high on my 45 gallon currently.

It's definitely overkill but you could make it work. Mount it lower and add a shade
I actually just found some shades for this light and I think that will be the plan for sure. I appreciate the response!

I picked one up for my Fluval, yup way overkill, you can always turn it way down it won't hurt anything. Better to have plenty of extra power than not enough.

Plus I may throw it on a larger tank someday so I don't have to buy twice.

I like the light, you can totally turn it down to work just the mounting so close to the tank might cut down access to the tank. A shade might be just the fix though.

If you're not careful it'll bleach your corals - I believe the Noopsyche K7 Mini is the best bet for the tank this size.

I actually just purchased the k7 mini. Looking forward to getting the tank started!

It's a GREAT light - from a cost savings and performance factor, it's a bargain! Been using it on the Fluval 13.5 for months now and corals are doing well! Be careful not to set the % too high! I'm running only at 45% total.

Good to know, tha ks for the input!

@AyoItsRocco did you ever get the k7 mini on your tank? Trying to make the same decision on the mini or v3 for my Fluval.

Yes I did get it mounted, although a little unconventionally i guess. I have it mounted on the wall instead of thr back of the tank and made a custom mesh lid on my own.

How do you like it? Any regrets yet?
