I was busy today, I've had a 10gal in my basement running for a few months with live rock i moved from my 55 in my living room. I had stand able to fit anything as wide as 24" and did not feel like building or buying anything, so unfortunately the idea of my 20 octagon or 20long rimless is gone. So the choice between the 10gal or a 20H.. obviously 20H is the choice.

I moved all the rock plus some extra dry BRS reefsaver rock i had laying around as well as the 10 gals of water into the 20H. Than I added 10 gals of freshly made SW. Oh, i also added a few lbs of the live rock that was in my sump in my 55gal setup that i was dying to remove from it.

I had the bit to drill a hole in the tank to setup a sump and all but decided I rather not get that far into setup with this. I'm keeping it simple. The tank will also be barebottom.

The tank is up in my bedroom next to my 40B freshwater planted tank, That tank has tracklighting over it, so i will be extending onto the tracklighting and using PAR38 bulbs over this.

Right now i have 10 Astrea snails.
My plan as for coral, I have no clue at this time.
ideas I did think of are

-sps garden
-Mushroom dominant
-BTA with Clown pair tank
-Damsel and Anem
-Dwarf Seahorse
-I dunno...

I am going to try and resist getting any fish at all. I may try to keep this as a invert only tank because I dont want to run a sump and no fish means less water changes which makes life easier.
I have no pictures at the moment, no point seeing it, just live rock in a glass box. But i will post pictures of progress as far as tracklighting and such. But I prob wont get things really going until school and lacrosse are over (mid May)
If anyone has any ideas or thoughts of cool directions to go with this Im all ears.

It's pretty plain at the moment, I dont have time to go get some stuff, for right now I'll just let the tank run with the live rock even tho it's cycled already

No cycle, all the rock was from my display tank in my 55gal. Although it was from the sump, Just waiting til a few more days closer to june to scape it and pick up probably a monti frag and just make it minimalistic which is what i decided im going to shoot for since minimalistic helps that i have a budget for right now.

I decided SPS since its Bare bottom and that powerhead i have adds a ton of flow. I may swap the aquaclear 50 with my aquaclear 70 from my planted. I run all my HOB filters without any filter media in them even in my freshwater tanks. the one on my planted tank i basically use as a sump and put my heater in it. But the reason i may put the 70 on this tank is so i can add more a bit more water volume. I like how this lands during the summer so i dont need to run a heater too.

But with this stuff being said, probably no fish. Although I just lost my purple firefish in my main tank, so after this competition is finished i could break down this tank and move everything over to my main tank.

I extended my tracklighting, added a new heads to the tracklighting for more light for my planted tank and sawing off a good portion of a head so the par38 from rapidled fit better with air hitting it.

I am debating cutting down the size of my tank from the 20H to a standard 10. I plastidipped the back of a 10gal i have and letting it dry. I have to do a waterchange on the 20 gal anyway so when doing so i am going to drain all the water and put the 10 there.

The reason I am thinking a 10gal will fit better for me is that:
1) this tank is most likely temporary regardless to how it looks
2) I only have one par38 bulb and this tank is DEFINITELY on a budget. I am unsure if i like how it currently fills it.
3) Less space = less coral to fill it. Like I said I am on a budget.

Decided I like the idea of a Floridian tide pool.
It will be dominant of hermits, and the two emerald crabs from my main tank along with snails. I will do a duo of tank bred neon gobies.
For coral/macro algae I am going to look to utilize beautiful Ricordea mushrooms. It will also allow me to remove the huge powerhead thats uglifying the tank. Unsure about macroalgae at this time.

As of right now I moved everything into a 10gal. I took the 20high into the basement and removed one pane of glass and changing the dimensions to make it 24longx17widex12high

I have the actual tank I will be using up and running. it is a 20 gallon 24x17x12high. This will be a Tide Pool biotope tank.

-RapidLED par38 with White/Blue/UV
-20 lbs of crushed floridian coral
-I have 2 hermits and 2 emerald crabs waiting to be added to this tank, theyre in sump of my main tank.

Planned stock
-Condy anemone (Purple)
-Ricordea mushrooms
-Urchin(s)
-Various snail
-Possibility of arrow crab or some other species
-Much more Hermits will be added.

My plan is to do little maintenance as possible, while at the same time having an entertaining tank to watch. Invert only tank may allow that.

Unsure how this is going to go, everything is same as when I started. I am short on cash so stocking coral in this may be hard to pull off but we will see. This is just weekly update although nothing new..

Alright, as you can tell this tank has taken some neglect. This is an update if I am still eligible. I know I need 2 updates a month and I forgot that.

If someone can comment determing of I am still in that would be great.

I plan on maybe adding some zoas and doing more inverts. I may do a few tiny fish but am shying away from fish at the moment. I was considering a rbta and a pair of Clark clowns and leaving it at that. What do you all think

Cleaned up front glass, foggy water from stirred up substrate.

Tomorrow I'll be stopping by a store to browse for some corals. And maybe trying to pick up pair of coral banded shrimp
