What do people mean when they say to keep alkalinity stable?

I have been trying to tune my 2 part doser while testing for alk everday at the same time

It seems to be fluctuating everyday and I am having a difficult time increasing/decreasing alk and ca dosing by 0.5mL each day to correct the dose

Here is the chart of my alk testing

I have a packed 40 gallon mixed reef with acros, lps, and softies

Maybe 0.5 mL change is too much of a change. Can you adjust the dosage by less than 0.5? Maybe by 0.2?

Do you dose alkalinity an other way such as by using Kalkwasser in your top-off water?

I personally would say that that’s reasonably stable as is. I don’t believe I’d have any problems with that small variation in my mixed reef.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
