size of tank is important. People have different opinions on vacuuming sand, by I do a small section every week. Perhaps some smaller sand sifting snails depending on how much microfauna you believe you have.

How small a tank?
5 gal but i have a bunch of rock in there it is challenging to work in.

I would try some smaller sand sifting snails. IT may be too small to support a medium-large conch long term, but I bet a few narcissus would be in heaven.
