I am new to Kessil and have a 360x single. Setting up a 24 inch cube 40 gallon and will be set up as a SPS dominant tank which will be a new phase in my reefing life. Can a single 360x grow SPS coral or will I need to add another or maybe attach some bars along with it

For SPS I would plan for 2 kessils over a 2 ft tank.

I use 6 over a 6ft tank, plus 4 T5’s. It’s a pretty expensive option compared to others that are currently available. I really do like kessils though.

Thank you for that. And sounds good. I’ll add another

I would add T5 or LED bars for fill. I can tell you grow experience that T5 LED hybrid makes growing acros easier.

Kessils have solid spectrum and great shimmer, but single point light sources are bad for shadowing.

I have a 24” cube sps tank. I use 2 kessil a360xe and 4 24” t5 bulbs. My par in peak areas checked with apogee 510 is 450+ 8” under water. Bottom is 200+. I had the narrow reflectors until I got my par meter. I was at ~900 par 8” under. BRS has a good video on kessil lights over a 48x24 tank on YouTube.

In the previous iteration of my tank I grew sps pretty well. I had a hybrid t5/kessil combo. 4 t5’s and 3 kessil an over a 24x48” tank. Amazing coloration and growth. I was super happy. I actually ran the tank with just the kessils for like a year before adding the t5s and still had great growth and coloration I essentially added the t5’s because the tank was starting to get shaded from a couple fast growing colonies.
