Hi everyone,

I just set up my KHD a couple days ago and instead of using pump #2. I used pump #4 on my standalone unit. I searched but couldn't find anything on this. I cut the line to 29cm. Will this be ok? Below are the first 2 test I ran so far. If you think this will be an issue down the road. I will switch back to pump 2. Thanks in advance.

Test1
4/24/20 @ 10pm
KHD - 7.8
Hanna - 6.9

Test2
4/25/20 @ 10pm
KHD - 7.3
Hanna - 7.0

Test3
4/26/20 @ 10pm
TBD

Pump 2 is the reagent pump. It moves the same amount of fluid no mater the length of the line. My best guess, it should be ok.

If it’s stacked the length from pump to KHD for reagent is 6.7” or 17cm. If side by side the length should be 9.3” or 23,5cm. That’s as per manual. Maximum total reagent length is 27.5” or 70cm. If your length from head to KHD is different it will fluctuate. The reason why you use the heads 1-3 is to keep hoses from kinking as much as possible which can cause variations. So you either need to trim the length you have to match that spec and see if kinks. If not then fine if kinks then move to head 2.

Go into ghl site and download the manual if you haven’t. it’s all in there.

I am running mine on the 4th pump because the 2nd pump needs to be replaced. I have no issues.

Hi, I agree with you that I should follow GHL's recommended setup. I ran it on pump 4 because I have the reagent bottle right under pump 4 and I thought it would better for the pump to draw reagent. I have the the units stacked. If any issues arises. I will go back to pump 2. thank you for your feedback.

Heres a pic of my setup.

I would switch Pump 3 and 4 and set the reagent tube to the specified length. Because the drain pump would hook to the left side of head 4, easier to have proper lengths. That way it would be more accurate. But if your happy then cool. I’d want measurements that they specify. I bought all the spare parts to replace and repair any issues.

The minor change in length of the reagent tube does not matter. The reagent line stays full of reagent all the time. So since it’s full all the time the pump only pushes X amount of fluid per test. The important part is no air in the line and a properly Calibrated pump.

The water sample line is the most important of all on length.
