I wanted to pull together a troubleshooting thread for anyone that has questions on their KH Guardian or KH Guardian Monitor units.

I have recently run into an issue that may have been happening all along with my unit re-testing every test. Yes, each test is done twice but only recorded once on my unit. So...
  1. Problem number 1: My unit is not recording retests as it is programmed to do (i.e. Log Retry = "1")
  2. Problem number 2: My unit is retesting each test when it does NOT fall out of the error range I have input (i.e. Error Range DKH = "0.5dkh")

Could it be that my Error Retry value is going off of the un-calibrated number? For example, my adjusted DKH value is -0.91. Therefore if it uses the unadjusted value it would always be greater than 0.5. If not, I don't get why it is re-testing.. That also doesn't answer why it doesn't record the retest.

I got a response from David at KHG and his recommendation was to remove three wheels in the reagent motor/peristaltic pump... I do not understand how that would assist an apparent software problem but awaiting clarification on that.

Well, I adjusted my DKH error range to be 1.5 and it is still running two tests per attempt. I'm going to try and force calibration once my third (or sixth) test is complete to enable the force calibration feature. Wish me luck!

Did you ever get this sorted out? I think my unit has been doing this since I bought it last spring. Didn’t think too much of it until I saw your thread but reagent isn’t cheap so it would be nice not to burn through it so fast.

You know I actually didn't until i forced recalibration and it seems to be fine now.

So I think my settings for doing retests that were more than 0.5dkh out of wack were being taken from the unedited test result (i.e. before it adjusted to -0.90 dkh I had set) and therefore was always running two tests. When I forced recalibration to match my two salifert test kit results I haven't noticed it do two tests since. Again, my theory is that I am no longer 0.90 dkh different after forcing recalibration vs just altering and showing a different number.

This was the response I received from David on their support team.

I didnt go this route as I was concerned about removing wheels making the tests less consistent.
