Finally starting a build thread on my new tank.
Starting off, we started building a new house, i wanted a much larger tank, and only one tank instead of 2, so we chose a location, we decided it was going between my bedroom and a Cameroon on the other side. Where there will be a windo to see though.
We added in 2 taps, one that will dump old water change water outside, and another faucet for making water on the left side wall where the tank goes.
We searched for a while for a tank that would fit. Eventually we did take out that stand, and settled on a 200gal innovative marine penensula tank.
I built the stand and put it in place
Then had 6 guys move the tank and put it on the stand, i wasnt there for that, so the tank was left 2 feet from the wall.
And opperently according to my father, it would take 6 more people to move it into place.
Stubborn me decided no, and ended up using my feet, to pretty easily push it into place.
Filled it with water, that took 2 days of back and forth driving to the local water place, 20 gallons at a time 30 minute drives.
Mixed the salt in the tank, then added sand.
Next came the not so fun part, getting some rock, I had some extra I had pre cured, but it was dead rock. So I took all the cleanest, non xenia infested rock I could find from my old tanks and added it in to get some cycling going.
I let it cycle for about 2 weeks before we needed to take the old tanks down in the old house.
So I started with my 90 gal, cleaning xenia off rock, and harvesting fish. Only one casualty.
We did divide the new tank in half, because we had 2 occeolaris clowns, one from one tank and one from another.
Once both tanks were added, there was no aggression through the divider.
And eventually it was kinda pointless, because the next day both the occolaris were on one side, paired up, so I ended up removing the divider, they are now a mated pair.
After that progress slowed down, corals bounced back amazingly, the new tank just looks great, we've been keeping levels in check, and no more xenia exept for a few spots that I'll probobly lazer(looking into that)
Just recently hung our 2 blades, we need more lights, ive got some ordered coming in soon.
Definitely glad to have tank, much nicer than the old ones.
