Amazing new research from Hawai'i shows the impact of volcanic activity on the marine ecosystem, particularly phytoplankton. The implications for the reef tank biome -- carbon cycle, nutrient export, sand vs bare bottom, anaerobic zones, and so much more -- are startling and compelling. Who knows where this research may lead? For now, a really interesting find that hopefully will spring many follow-up studies.

I'd love to read others' comments and reactions to this attribution, particularly as it relates to all (little) we know about our glass boxes.

I found an article from 2018 in Smithsonian that did not have 7 years of observations yet, thank Google for hiding all knowledge behind paywalls. Free exchange of information is a keystone of progress, especially since the old dusty libraries were digitized in the name of progress.
