Killer Tang

So where is this information before we buy fish. I did ask questions no answer then
The internet, I guess?

"Vlamingii Tangs are generally peaceful but can exhibit territorial behavior, especially in smaller tanks."

Interesting I suppose it could be good advice but if goggle is comparable to AI then I don't trust it. Obviously I made a bad choice by trusting the lfs guy. But from now on will do more research. Would it be cruel to put it in the sump?
Best option is to return it and get soemthing else. That’s best for you the fish and your other fish. No more headaches no more killing fish. Those are one of the biggest tangs and need massive tanks. I always believe it’s okay to have fish that may get really big and outgrow your tank as long as you have a plan to either upgrade and give it to someone else who can care for it.

Thanks I will ask my lfs guy and see. Maybe him or he knows someone

If you can catch it to put it in the sump you can catch it to rehome it.

Please make one good decision.

It has all the privacy it needs it killed a yellow watchman goby that was an inch and a half long and stayed in one spot hardly competition for this piece of garbage

Because we can’t get into the brain of a fish, hard to say what they do when they do it. It’s why I wrote what I wrote. At the end of the day nothing of what we do will possibly be enough and any fish at any time I can see it snap. Just the rules of nature I guess. Best we can do is provide the fish with proper home.

Where is the I information such as what I wrote? Buried by the people calling us that have some set rules, if you will, that are set for example on tank size, “tang police” all know is you’re not the only one to have had a fish most call peaceful go nuts and murder fish. But again many even on this forum want to argue about tank size and want to say we can keep certain fish in certain size tanks.

We know that in the end even what we can provide for bigger fish is not enough compared to the ocean, it’s still better than the people saying you can keep most of the tangs in 40,60,100g systems out side of say Bristletooth bags which are on the smaller side. How many you have and how big of a tank matters. The info is easily found. Type the name of the fish in any search engine and add max size. Many websites with info pop up. Included live aquaria which has a ton of info on fish. And some ever have a tank recommendation.

Cheers! 🤙🏽

I have (2) 8"+ Naso, (2) 7" Sailfins, 7" Blue, and several 5" Purple & Yellow tangs. They're very well behaved since they share space with aggressive angels! My huge 9"+ French Angel makes sure nobody steps out of line. So, the solution to your aggressive tang problem is to just add more aggressive fish? ;)

Good luck!

The internet is literally filled to the brim with this information. I just googled "is a 4 foot, 100 gallon tank big enough for a vlamingi tang" and every single link on the first 2 pages (as far as I went) will tell you no. If you aren't using the internet to learn you are missing out.

Maybe I will try to start an article for all of us unsuspecting ignorant dopey people

There's hundreds of these articles, the only way you can not find them is by not looking.

Google works just fine, most of the time it references Live Aquaria, and you can just ask "What size tank does a XXX fish need".

Verify with a couple different sites to make sure you got a good answer - Or simply ask here :)

I think it would be very cruel to put it in the sump.
