Ok maybe it’s not that long. After getting out of tanks for a few years due to moving around so much I am finally settled in a home and starting back up again. I initially got an IM 15 and immediately knew I was going to be wanting more, but patience is key! So I waited a week and then upgraded…
I started the IM 15 with some rock from tampa bay saltwater and the amount of life on these rocks was something else! Highly recommend to anyone. Still trying to figure out if this tank belongs to me or the cats though.
After the itch came for more I started looking online for a tank that I could easily get into my home on my own and wouldn’t break my budget. The skies opened up and somehow my way came a used IM 30L. Now came the adventure of prepping this tank! Immediately it went to the supervisors for inspection and they approved.
I had to put in some manual labor to get the old leveling mat off as it was pretty roughed up.
Got a stand on sale from Petco, a fancy yoga mat from Walmart, and the leak test began!
Note the stand holds up to 75g, could this be foreshadowing??
This is where I am at as of today. I hit up a live sale from @Living Reef Orlando and what they gave me blew me away! Definitely going to make that two hour drive just to see them again soon.
As for my livestock I just have a simple CUC and a pair of clowns. I had a goby but he sadly didn’t make it too long, I’m wondering if he got bullied too hard because it looked like he may have swam full speed into the glass and injured himself. As much as it hurt me I had to do the right thing and euthanize him.
If anyone has some livestock suggestions throw it my way!
Got a second light set up over the tank finally and everything is looking much happier. Sadly I think I’m going to have to rehome my clownfish to my dads tank since they have become too aggressive and killed every other fish I’ve tried to add.
Been awhile since I’ve made an update. Discovered a mantis shrimp that made his way into the tank from the live rock, what an adventure trying to get him out! This led to some reworking of the rocks but I think I’ve got everything set well for now.
For a few weeks I noticed none of my zoas would open and my corals while alive were not thriving. I decided to cut back my weekly 5G water change to every two weeks and once that water started to dirty up a bit everyone got very happy again.
