Week 5 (I can’t believe it’s been a month already) it’s looking good. The head is bigger than ever I would say it’s larger than a golf ball now. It’s got more of an ovular shape now rather than spherical. We changed out the mesh top agin last night but agin my wife wouldn’t poke it to see if there was the beginning of a skeleton. She’s killing me I need to know.

Does it generally orient itself in a right side up posture? Very impressed with you success so far keeping this thing going. I had a torch head last a week then melt away. Keep it up.

This is awesome!! I'm definitely going to try this if I ever have this happen again to me. I did a similar thing and cause polyp bailout on my hammer and figured he was a goner. Now in the future I know there's hope and will give this a try!

I can’t tell usually which was is up or down. In general it’s all flow dictated. I am hoping as (or if) it starts laying down some carbonate it’s starts floating one particular way or even better staying on the bottom.

Well no major updates today besides that it’s still in there kicking on week 6. It looks a little deflated today but as I explain later I think it was pinned in the corner today for a while. It’s been a bit bigger than a golf ball all week.

One item of note is that my wife sent me a couple of pictures while I was at work today. The hammer got pinned between the rock we’re using for weight on the container and the container wall. She got a couple of clear-ish shots of the bottom.

you can see that the bottom has essentially skinned over and you can no longer see the internal filaments and stringy goo on the inside. Unfortunately I don’t see any actual skeleton there yet but hopefully now that the base has formed a skin it will start growing something. Then again who knows?

Got back from the in-laws and it’s still in there floating around. Still don’t see any evidence of an actual skeleton at this point but I think I’m about 2 months in at this point and it’s not dead so that’s something right?

3 months in and it’s still hanging in there. It’s still blowing around it it’s container and the conch and or the turbo snails will take container for a ride every once in a while. Still looking happy and inflating every day

This picture my wife sent me today while I was at work. She says she saw some “white stuff” on the bottom when it was blowing around so maybe it’s finally starting to lay down some skeleton. She’s says you can see it if you zoom in. I’m not sure I see it but it would be cool.

Figure I’d give an update on this for the record. I’m about 6 months in the poly is still hanging out in it’s cage. No signs of a skeleton yet. A couple of times I’ve seen the underside of it up against the mesh and there are some darker white spots that could possibly be the beginning of some hard skeleton. Anecdotally, it seems to be blowing around less than it was so maybe it’s getting heavier and not as easily blown around? Who knows.

Keep the updates coming, really interested to see the outcome.

It’s been over 10 months now. So I guess it’s update time. No good news unfortunately. It is still alive but not dosing great.
About a month and a half ago it escaped the Tupperware container when the rubber band decided 9 months was long enough in salt water. The mesh top came off and the head went on Mr Toads wild ride around the tank for a couple of days. It took me a while to get it to a location where I could extract it and get it back the the container. After that it seemed not to inflate as much as it has been. As a result it’s spent a lot of the time the past month or so pinned beneath the rock I use to weight the container down. It’s still colored up but roughly 1/4 to 1/5 the size it used to be. If I don’t shake the container every day it will stay under rock and not get much light at all.

here is a terrible picture where you can see it on the left after I shook it loose from the rock.

Hopefully I can get it to stay out in the light so it can get growing.
