I have a thread about this fish that started glass surfing about a week ago now and @ISpeakForTheSeas made me realize it might be due to illness.

This morning I can see its mouth is partly white so I assume there is something wrong physically and the glass surfing is not behavioral.

Here is a video taken this morning

I’m in Canada so very limited medication available. Also I’m leaving for the Holidays in a few days. Not an ideal situation. :-(

eta : I have Melafix, General Cure and CopperPower blue but since I’m leaving in 2-3 days I can’t do a hospital tank for now. Med has to go in the display.

I guess Melafix is my best bet ?

Looks like a mouth injury or bacterial issue. None of the meds mentioned will address this and Melafix is pretty much useless despite its claims as it does not work even in freshwater and is merely Teak tree oil. Seachem Kanaplex will be your best bet for treatment in a separate tank.
However, I see you are in Canada which makes it tougher with meds. Ruby Rally Pro takes longer if you can get it and is reef safe.
Cloest you have is general cure, but fish may or may not respond to it

Can it be used in display ?

I’ll be gone for 4-5 days, in 3 days. I know it’s not a good time but it can’t be cancelled.
Ruby would be best for your time away but general cure should also work. Increase oxygen while you are treating with GC

Should I add carbon in the display tank, would that help ?

I’ve ordered Kanaplex and focus but it won’t get here before dec. 31st. It is such a small quantity (5g) that it would only be enough to use with food. I know it’s not ideal but it might be its only chance.

Its absorbed well internally and externally and i would not add to food as it needs to be applied to food precisely which is tricky

Update : the injury seems to have healed completely in about a week (without meds).

It must have been from scratching on the rough edges of the egg crate I put agains the class to stop it from glass surfing. I had only left it for about an hour, thankfully.
