Hi all, I've noticed suddenly my Kole Tang has a whole lot of white spots and not much color. Should I be concerned? Cheers.

Looks likes a skin irritation with mucus plugs and can even be previous ich. I recommend placing fish in a separate treatment tank and treating with coppersafe at 2.25ppm and any other fish too should be treated for a full 30 days and monitor ammonia level with a reliable test kit

That could be ich, but we need clearer pics and a video taken under white light for the best diagnosis. More of a history about the fish is important, since fish diseases always have a cause and then they can effect other fish in the tank. This post explains all that:

Thanks for your help @jay, I only noticed the spots yesterday but he seems happy and well today and also eating. Can these parasites spread to rest of my fish?

Yes, if it is marine ich, all fish have been exposed and in moderate infections, all of the fish will develop symptoms, and if untreated, will likely die from it.

Sorry - IDK. The two we use in the US are Coppersafe and Copper Power. You may find Cupramine. That is an ionic copper that is a bit harsher than other other two, but still works well.

Hi @Jay Hemdal the spots seem to have disappeared overnight, how should I proceed?
Ich is tricky - early on in an infection, all of the parasites are on the same “schedule” and they can all fall off the fish at the same time as they go to their next reproductive phase. However, as the infection progresses, they become more out of sync and the fish get more and more spots all of the time.
