my wife and I are looking into 2 matching Display tanks for the new living room after the addition is put on our house next year. Unlikely that they will end up identical but we are trying to at least make them look like they should be in the same room.

I'm having a hard time finding standard aquariums over 230 gallons. By standard i mean part of a cost saving production line, not a price gouging "custom" aquarium company who is going to try to charge my $300+ to make the back panel black or add $1,000 to a price tag because i wanted the side panels to be 6" longer.

So if you are aware of some large GLASS tanks at competitive prices, please share a name or ink. Please nothing from Red Sea.
Ideally the tank will be 84-96" long, 30-36" wide, 24-29" tall.

I'm currently looking at the Pro Clear ProStar v2 230 gallon system. We already have one of these. my wifes tank is the 5' version. Amazing system at the best price by double over every other competitor i,ve seen. had it for 5 years, never a single issue.
Unfortunately, their largest tank is 72 x 26 x 24. i don't want to settle, but i also don't want to pay $10,000 on top of the price of the pro star price just to get another foot or 2 longer and 6+ inches wider. The fact that this product exists at its price point makes it almost impossible to justify anything anyone else offers. There has to be at least one more company on this planet that can compete with ProStar's cost to quality.

It's unclear what dimensions you want - are you saying you want an 8 foot tank? Larger? Do you want bracing? Do you want a stand/sump combo? I mean - custom manufacturers are not necessarily 'gouging' by charging a higher price. And there are companies that make 8 foot tanks. Here is one. https://www.aquariumspecialty.com/p...9ozI8Xehtww4aE9zQTI8a5aEu8I91N6q1fbuyaE&gQT=1
But - its very unclear what you want

Thanks for that link. that's a good price $3,256 for an 84"x30"x24" 270 g. and they only charge $127 to paint the back black. most companies charge double to quadruple for that same simple service. that's the gouge i was referring to.

sorry but i had put what i was looking for in the center. should have been at the top. "Ideally the tank will be 84-96" long, 30-36" wide, 24-29" tall."

so the wife thinks 8ft is too long. So 7ft (84") is perfect. The only thing that sucks is that this isn't rimless. That's a requirement from the wife so I have no wiggle room there. if i could get that same tank with a euro brace instead I would likely get 2 of these.

i built one on custom aquariums for $6k and one on glass cages for $10k. Custom aquariums says this tank will be rimless @84x36x25 meanwhile Glass cages won't build a large rimless tank taller than 18" so idk what to make out of that.

Planet Aquariums should be something you should check out! Love my tank from them it is a 72’’ but i know they offer an 84 if you do not order there stand it is pretty affordable

Waterbox makes a DT that's 249 gallons, you'd likely need to contact them to see if you can get only the tank tho, as I only see tank+stand on their site.
just checked them out. that looks like a decent deal too for that reef lx 330.7 tank sump and stand for $8,500. Not rimless or euro braced though so it won't meet the criteria for that room.

I have a feeling she will just have 2 tanks in the living room so i can have the tank i want in some other room no one uses, kinda like now. lol

Not having rimless is old school. You will have a hard time finding one. Not many people these days want to pay 5-10 k to have a tank with a rim on it.

There are some that are rimless but also Eurobraced if you are concerned with structural integrity.

I may not have worded that very well. i agree the rimless looks best. idc if it is rimmed or braced or not. my wife does though. and that's her room design so she wants me to get a rimless tank. my problem is i can't find rimless tanks in large sizes. So i'm trying to meet her standards so i too can have my tank in the living room instead of a room i'll never be in

To get what you’re looking for I think you’re going to have to go custom. I don’t know of any stock produced tank that has everything you want. Custom builders are not “gouging”, you are paying for their time, labor, expertise, materials and most importantly to get exactly what you want. If not, I think you’re going to have to make some compromises.

This is the place for custom work. The owner is a solid guy and a very active member here at R2R. If you have any questions he would be glad to help you, simply type (@)Joe Glass Cages.

My only other idea here was SC Aquariums, these are very good tanks, relatively inexpensive because these are Chinese made stock builds (not custom). However, the largest is only 72” long, and these are eurobraced not standard trim, but I think hands down most would prefer eurobraced to a standard plastic rim:

I hope you find what you’re looking for, good luck!

Yeah everyone seems to miss the gouging concept here. i even painted out an exact example. that's ok though, this thread is not about that so we can forget about it.

Anyway, i agree that Joe from glass cages is good people. i've spoken to him before and read some good posts from him randomly over the years on this site.
They don't do rimless tanks over 18" tall though unfortunately for big tanks and i want 84"L x 30-36"W x 24-28"H. So yes i'm trying to compromise by being willing to pay over $10k for a glass box, but it seems that size is just too big for rimless. I wonder if thicker glass would allow for this size in rimless or the silicone is also an issue with this much water weight. It probably doesn't matter though as a tank this size with 1"+ thick glass would probably cost as much as my truck.

So basically i need to convince my wife to compromise on the rimless and then most of these options everyone gave would be acceptable. So we all know that means my new reef tank won't be in the living room. lol
