Lasses Dream Build

Lasse, one question. Is your method of dosing daily frozen mysis and artemia good enough to feed the sun coral or do you need additional specific feeding?

Hi Lasse, I missed which conversion factor you use for the photometer results. For the Hanna HI736 (Phosphorus ULR), for example, the calculation is (result x 3.066) / 1000; if I’ve understood correctly, does (result x 3.12) / 1000 apply to Salifert’s reagents?
I use the ULR PO4 method - give me the result directly in PO4 regardless of which reagent I use.

I performed some measurements which showed that the Salifert reagent yielded a value higher than the actual level—a finding that aligned with the results obtained using the Hanna reagent. Based on these experiments, I calculated a conversion factor and applied it to the Salifert results. I have since concluded, however, that the margin of error was too great. The same applies to using the Tropic Marine Pro PO4 kit in the manner demonstrated by the Germans in their video; it did not work for me, likely because the composition of the Tropic Marine reagent has been altered. On the other hand, I was impressed by the test when used as intended—it is easy to read within the 0.03 to 0.1 range, with distinct increments at 0.05 and 0.08 mg/L.

Sincerely Lasse

Yep - it grows rather good at all places it is established. I move on colony to the other side - and it works there as well. No other type of feeds. I stop mos pumps for 10 minutes when I feed

Hi Lasse: I completely agree with you concerning Seriatopora. I have also had different colonies that grew up like weed and then, suddenly and very quickly, they decay and bleach completely. Cutting the diseased parts sometimes work, sometimes doesn't.
Anyway, congratulations for your tank
I succeeded to stop it this time. I cut but I think also the fact that I manually dosed around 20 ml 12% H2O2 for two days and after that restart my Oxidator - first with 6 % and after a week rise to 12%. For the moment most corals is better than ever - especially my Euphyllia of different types

20mL 12% H2O2?!
My BTA shrivels like it's going to die if I dare to add 2mL in my 650L / 171gal system 😯
I assume it was spread throughout the whole day?

I know you are a fan of the Oxidator. I have thought several times about installing one in m tank but never did. Do you think it improves growth of Euphyllias?

Nope - during 10 minutes in order to first kill some aiptasia and second maybe help my corals fighting some disease. However - I normally use an oxidator and it pull out around 20 ml 12% H2O2 a day. I have not used it for a while (since april 2026) in order to see whats happens without this equipment. The aquarium has not run better- therefore I restart the oxidator

Below - you can see my Orp levels. Green no H2O2, blue arrows single dose of 15-20 ml 12% H2O2. Red line continuous dose of 12% H2O2 at a rate of 20 ml/day. Some of this is converted to oxygen and water by the Oxidator's built-in catalyst some will enter the water column as H2O2. Peak ORP around 500 mV and lowest ORP around 230 mV

Not directly - but this time it looks like there was something affecting my torches and for the moment - they are very well - inflated like never before - the same for my other types. Its probably a secondary effect but I do not what.

And I have no BTA and I think that my corals a rather used of H2O2 in the water column.

ORP seems to be trending upward after initial big drop during constant H2O2 dosing. Are you breeding H2O2 resistant strains, are resistant organisms taking over, or is there a known different assignable cause?
