Latz pre-spawning behavior?

Hmm this is interesting. I have a bonded pair of c/b Latz from Karen B. in Hawaii and it seems as though they are exhibiting pre-spawning behavior. The female is around a year and half in age and the male is a ittle over a year old. Is this even possible at their age? What tipped me off was that the male has become overly aggressive toward other fish that come near his anemone. He has never been agressive at all toward any fish in the past year or so. Suddenly, within the past couple weeks, I've observed his agressive behavior. In addition, I just observed him cleaning a patch of rock near the Magnifica. Now, I am unsure if I am seeing things, but I am seeing a fuller belly in the female clown. Could this be possible considering their age?

It is certainly possible. Clowns generally reach sexual maturity as early as 9-15 months old. That being said, I have noticed similar aggressive behaviors by clowns of that age that have yet to spawn almost a year later. How are the male and female acting toward each other? Do they chase each other around in circles? Do they lean sideways or downwards while vibrating their bodies? The squaring of the females ovary is also a good sign!

The pretty friendly toward each other. They do tend to go sideways and vibrate their bodies off and on. In fact I just witnessed the female doing this today. Usually it's the male that does this.

Interesting! I would be interested in hearing if it all amounts to a spawn. If so it usually takes place in the late afternoon or evening
