Least favorite tank chore

I dont see these as chores but rater requirements and tend to do all at once rather than split it up

I just spent an hour scrubbing my gyres… super gross. I’d rather clean my skimmer. That’s how much I dislike this particular chore.
I attach one of those high pressure garden hose nozzles to my laundry sink. I set it to the highest pressure velocity setting and then blow out all the gunk in the gyre blades with that. If I keep up with my cleaning on them every 2 weeks it only takes about 10 minutes.

To be fair…. This was my first deep clean of the gyres in 10 months. I’ve done surface cleanings but had not taken them apart.

Filter Socks, and I don’t know why. It takes less than Five minutes each, on each tank, to swap them. Maybe 15minutes to spray four of them off in the sink and place in Clorox to soak. Next day maybe 10 minutes to rinse and hang them to dry.

This is one chore I have never enjoyed doing either!

There is something oddly satisfying about having just cleaned the glass.
And the longer I wait the more satisfying it is :face-with-tears-of-joy:
I do water changes on 3 tanks with buckets and prefer doing that to cleaning the glass. Back glass? Fuhgeddaboudit
