I have a new small BTA I added to display tank on its on island and after being introduced went inside the cave by next morning. Is the general consensus to leave it be and allow the BTA to adjust and move to the light/flow it likes or move it to an area that has less light and flow?
So i had this same issue with my BTA a few months ago. It would open up and come out but it looked "sad" without the bubbles. I did not move from the spot i put it in. After about a weeks, it started to look better but never quite as nice as when i saw it in the store. I figured that that is as good as it was going to get. About 2 months ago I did end up moving it for different reasons (peppermint shrimp constantly picking at it) and it has grown significantly and its arms have the characteristic bubbles now. I wish i had moved it sooner. I say give it a week and if youre not impressed follow your gut.
I would agree that if they dont like a spot they will move.
However you said your guy is on an island, so dependant on the surrounding substrate or none it may not be able to.
If after a 7 to 10 days and it is unhappy choose a different lighting location.
Thanks for the prompt advice! I haven’t touched it or even looked it today and it moved to front of cave facing current and light. Fingers crossed it likes this spot!

So at night it pulls back to under the overhang then first light pops out towards light/flow or on side. I feed mysis once a week and appears larger now
