Recently installed my blaze xmini today. Switching out my Chinese black box and I have mixed feelings.
It’s a 29g sps dominate tank.
as of now the colors of the corals look great.
but the spread and intensity seem weak compared to the black box.
Anyone else own a blaze series and what size would be good for a 29g. Also do you get lots of shadowing from the blaze series?
I didn’t get much shadows with the black box.

I figured out the right intensity on my new blaze still thinking about getting another though. I think it will do with two but one has it looking good.

It’s going good I’ve Been running them for half a year now and getting growing off my remaining sps that lived through the crash I experienced. I’m still not 100% sold on the illumagic blaze minis. The black eBay box gave me great lighting without the cost of a name brand.
I’m sure the blaze style is better.
Also would considering going to the orphek lights if I I setup a bigger tank.

Cool, yeah it's a hard one, i got the Blaze X 60 on a Aqua one mini reef 120. Par isnt huge but colour and shimmer is awesome. Was going to add a mini behind it possibly but put the old black box on the back for now to compensate for shading.

Ya the blaze series has a great look on the corals. I’m running 2 minis on my 29 1 wasn’t enough. Had a lot of shadowing with only 1 on my tank.

Hey guys, PAR is a little less on these units because of the very high amount of UV and lower end spectrum so it's great for growth. There is some new clusters due out possibly early next year to give a lot more PAR in the blue spectrum, so all units are extremely modular and can easily be upgraded when an update comes out too. As for lighting up a 29g system, yes that is stretching what's little mini can do at only 50 watts. You could about the 3 foot pictured below.

If you wanted to keep the neat and tidy look i would suggest to go for 2 of the single rear mounting arms, but the larger version as shown in the picture.

Thanks and keep in touch.

I have the illumagic blaze 72in and the power of light this puts out is amazing..I can't believe I went from a mess of electrical cords to just 2 small cords! I'm completely satisfied with this system...

I think I can see your position. It appears you spent $600, to replace a light that was $100. And apparently the $100 light was working fine.
Ugh..

I had a 2 foot blaze on my JBJ45 and was very impressed. Then I went to a 4 foot tank and am considering a 36" blaze or a Orphek icon. I'm currently running t5s but in my sump is the coral that I'm keeping some sps and lps I have a prime 16 over them and the coral looks soo much better under a led so I'm very torn about what light to go with tank is 48x24x16
