Hi! So at the moment I’m using two VIPARSPECTRA T300 fixtures over my 125G and they are good lights but I just can’t seem to achieve a balanced color out of them. I’m trying to get that nice color like an LFS would have that shows the color of the corals as well as the fish.

This is the current configuration of the lights:
- Channel one: Violet(420nm), Royal Blue(450nm), Blue(470nm)
- Channel two: Green(520nm), Red(660nm), Neutral White(6500K), Cool White(12000K)

If I use just channel 1 the corals are a nice vibrant color but the tank looks really blue, which I don’t really mind but the problem is the fish lose their color, like my yellow watchman goby and foxface appear black and the clownfish are a really dark orange.

Now the problem is if I turn channel 2 on, even at 1% brightness the corals lose most of their color, it’s like there’s too much white light. I’ve even tried channel 1 at 100% brightness and channel 2 at 1%, the white LEDs just over power all the other lights.

I was going to disassemble the lights and replace some of the whites with a different color just not sure exactly which whites to swap with what other color. Looking for some suggestions on this.

Following this. I'd like to do the same with my Mars Aqua. It has to have been done before.

I bought 10 royal blue, 10 cool white (10k), and 10 full spectrum LEDs on amazon and I’ll be swapping them with the 30 whites that are currently in one light. I’ll keep you updated how it goes.

Have a look at when I switched some LEDs from my white channel to a more blue look

I love the look of my tank. Colours of the corals have that "pop" whilst still being able to see my fish

It went well and pretty happy with the results. I use the white channel on 1% now and it doesn’t wash out all the blue lights. Nice happy medium between fish and coral colors. Just have to do the second light now.
