I have a Coralife Lunar (48") and a few of the moon light led's have gone out. Replacing them is about $80. Can I just use a LED strip for the moon light? One led on the end still works so I thought about ordering a 36" strip and mounting it under the light next to the last led.

You can use LED strip lighting. No problem. I use it in my canopy as moon lights.

I used a kit I ordered from Steve's LEDs for about $25. It came with its own driver and a remote, you could change the color between 16 different options and you can change the brightness as well.
