I just purchased a Nikon d3400. This is my first venture into the world of dslr photography. The camera only comes with the 18-55 kit lens. My question is what lens or accessory should I purchase 1st to shoot pictures of my corals?

try the kit first! take a step back from the tank. the kit doesnt have a good close focus(too close to lens) Then youll want to look into a dedicated macro lens, for the sweet details.

What macro would folks recommended? I see a lot of people using tamron
most use the Tamron, its good AND affordable. I believe its 60mm or 90mm. Tokina is also good and naturally Nikon Micro is Great but also $$$$$.
