Leopard Wrasse are known to be expert only fish.

My tank just has Anthias and Clown fish and is full of pods. What are my chances that by buying a Leopard Wrasse from Live Aquaria that it will survive?

Thank you.

The fact that it’s coming from Live Aquaria will significantly reduce your chance of success IMO.

I’d buy from anywhere else.

These fish don't ship well. Order of where ide buy

1. Local reefer taking down tank
2. lfs, watch one eat
3. Reputable online shop- ideally quarantined

If your in brooklyn,

You have a couple shops nearby I would take a day visit too if you have the time.
I visited pop corals in bkln a few years ago and was a nice shop.

If you're willing to take the drive to staten island you have piecesoftheocean.com.

Online, i've ordered from drreef quite a few times for quarantined fish. I've been happy with them as well, but prices will be higher since they quarantine for you.

Will Saltwaterfish.com be better than Live Aquaria?

I have lots of good experiences with Saltwaterfish.com.

I have 3 chromis, 1 anthias, 1 lawnmower blenny, and a foxface all purchased from saltwaterfish.com.

i did have 2 bangai cardinal fish purchased, but did not make it. Customer service was great and issued a refund.

I am also looking at them for a couple leopard wrasses. If not them also thinking of going with petco who I’ve actually always had really good luck ordering online from.

Agreed on Petco. Contrary to what you'll see a lot online, I prefer Petco (specifically shipped) for marine orders. Typically cheaper than anywhere else, they usually have sales going on. A vital care membership gives you 20% off, which you can stack on any other deal. They also have a very generous guarantee (7 days in my experience). I've gotten five fish from Petco. They are directly shipped from Quality Marine. The challenge is finding unique or specific types of fish. Leopard wrasse, for example, the blue star, comes in stock often. The black leopard I've been watching for a year has come in stock two times.

*That said, leaving RAP yesterday, I stopped by WWC and picked up a black spotted leopard wrasse. That's what got me to this thread. So excited.

I finally got a leopard that shipped and has been doing great. Like many have said, shipping is the biggest challenge with them. Once that gets through a couple of days, they cruise around eating pods all day.

Where'd you order from and what type of leopard?

Just a regular leopard from sea dwelling creature (through a local shop). It was my 3rd attempt because they didn't ship the previous 2 times. I tried another the next week and it was dead in the bag at arrival. This is after maybe 3 hours in a box after airport pickup.

FWIW I got a blue star leopard wrasse online from petco last week. Ordered two, as well as a spotted dragonette. One leopard wrasse was doa, the dragonette was very skinny and died after a couple days. The surviving wrasse is in excellent shape. All told the two wrasses and dragonette cost 130 including shipping. After the live arrival guarantee reimbursement the leopard surviving wrasse cost was 50$ including shipping. Would have been perfectly to have had all three fish, but it worked out fine.

TLDR got a healthy leopard wrasse for 50$ shipping included thru petco.

I had a good experience with a bluestar Leopard wrasse I received from them on Jan 5th this year. It went through 3 weeks of copper, 3 weeks of Prazi and is super healthy.
