One more question is it ok to leave macros in the QT or should I just shake them and toss right away?

Anything wet like that should be discarded if it could have been exposed to meds or parasites and not re introduced back into a DT.

Definitely not going to put the macros back in DT. How long can I leave them in QT before tossing?

Indefinitely with water quality and light.
