Lepto question

I have a Jack-O-Lantern Lepto I've had for a few months. It started in my 40 gallon, then I moved it to 170. It's been on the bottom of both tanks. I'm not sure about this coloration it's taking on. Under actinics the ridges are black. Is that... normal?? Seems odd.

Hmmmm I'll move it up higher and see if it recovers.

The online descriptions - including Tidal Gardens - say to keep in low light areas, but it's worth a try. He was doing well for a few months and then this.

My JOL lepto is in the upper 1/3 of the tank and it's growing and colored up well.

If mine survives, I am going to put it on the glass as well!

You have loss of flesh I can see the skeleton in a couple of spots. It's definitely struggling. I had mine up in the top half of my tank and it did really well. It's important to have some decent flow too.

I just thought it didn't need more light - and the past few weeks a cyano outbreak in the tank covered a lot of the corals constantly; I could barely keep up with getting the algae off the frags. This one was constantly covered. I just finished a Chemiclean treatment and the cyano is significantly better - I'm hoping that (and moving it up closer to lights) will help it recover. It was a really nice piece. Anything else I can do? I'm guessing it's just a wait and see at this point...

Hmmmm,

If the bacteria biome is now compromised via Chemiclean then raising this frag might be the last thing you want to do.

Corals are likely a lot like us: we take antibiotics and it seriously throws our gut bacteria into a major tail spin for a spell.

Point being, raising it up into a higher light level may add an additional layer of undesirable stress.
