Hi, is this christmas wrasse? Looks different from images online
About 2" in length
iMokZzLl.jpg

Bought him to eat pests (nudis/flatworms?)
It is a female Halichoeres biocellatus, sometimes called a Christmas wrasse, red christmas wrasse, or redline wrasse.

It should help with some of the coral pests.

Thank you, kind sir.
Will they eat flatworms on euphyllia? They're the only flatworms I have and I tried yellow coris wrasse and sixline wrasse before to no avail.

They should, but so should the others. Young fish are more likely than older fish, well fed fish are less likely to hunt as well. Skip feeding one a week and that should help motivate them to hunt.

What type of Wrasse is this? He is very aggressive.

Not my best picture -- just snapped this hoping to get a more positive ID between C. katherinae and C. balteatus, if possible.

It is a C. katherinae.

To be honest the Philippine katherinae is sort of a tweener between the Japanese katherinae and the Marshall Islands balteatus. I would be interested in seeing what the genetics say on the matter.

That it's the same thing. :p Pretty sure we both feel that way.

What kind of fairy wrasse is this? They are very similar but one has a more defined black dot by its back fin. Both get along just fine.
