And what clues to look for in regards to transition to male?

It's near impossible to ID the two species apart at this stage. But, I haven't seen any collection of efatensis for quite some time now - not sure why.

okay thank you, it was sold to me as a female. Should have known better. Maybe that explains some of the aggression that I am seeing from the P.Octotaenia male I already have.

Octotaenia is a cut above the rest in the genus for aggression. It likely won't accept any other Paracheilinus in only a 60g tank.
If the tank was double that size, you might have a chance.

okay then will have to keep an eye on it and look for options if it gets worse.
