I’m in the planning stages of a build. I have the tank hopping to do peninsula style (if the wife approves, she’s on the fence right now) I’m going to build the stand myself. Let me see yours! Maybe it will inspire my creation.

Warning, pic heavy!
Best part is no shimming was necessary
I set it up, and it was perfectly level :)

I built my peninsula stand myself as well, needs a little touching up still after moving it but I love it !

Stands made 100% out of 3/4" Plywood aside from the trim which is laminated pine cut and routered. BTW this stand is absolutely overkill for the tank that is on it, but that's the way I like it! :)

Here's mine. I wasn't a member of R2R when I built it so don't have any pics but finished ones. One of things I did when built it was to create an area in the bottom that would hold most if not all the water if the sump sprang a leak by adding a 3/4" piece of plywood & 1"x4" planks to the inside supports & then coated it with Flex-Seal to make it water proof. The side cut out was done this yr when I upgraded to a bigger sump & it wouldn't go thru the frt opening. 20180427_095716.jpg 20180427_095732 (3).jpg 20180427_105433.jpg 20180427_105451.jpg

JoshH I like your design, what will go in the smaller compartment of the stand?

The one side has a smaller opening because this is where all the plumbing, pumps and such for my closed loop will be held. The smaller opening actually has an insert (not completed yet, have to wait till I buy some more equipment before I can) that will hold the controller pad, closed loop pump controller and Vortech MP40/60 controller ( I will have one on my tanks back wall incase of power outages).

You want pictures? :)
I built this one in 2013 for my current 120DT. Solid Cherry.

Started with a trip to the local sawmill

Then, some time with a jointer and planer to mill it to size.

It's the little details...

I also made the laminate top, drilled the tank, DIY'd the sump, ran the 2 new 20A circuits to the back of the stand, and plumbed the mixing station up from the basement so I wouldn't have to schlepp another bucket of old stinky water.

Easily my most detailed project up to then.

Don't limit yourself to a wooden box. Here's an early shot...

... and one after the under cabinet had been completed...

Stand is 1.5" 11 gauge square steel tube, welded up by a local fab shop, and powder coated. Surround was painted with coral, fishes, such by my daughter, and then topped with a 1/4" of bar top epoxy.
