Let's ID the Petco Anemone

Pretty sure it’s not h.crispa, they have a leathery foot with prominent verracue. Also I’ve never seen a sebae that fluoresces yellow/greenish like that , they can be yellowish in color. But it’s not really a fluorescent yellow. This foot looks smooth with no spots (although sometimes it’s hard to see the spots in pics if they are similar color as the foot).

I got a picture of its foot. As you can see there are a couple spots near the base. According to Google, BTA’s don’t have verrucae, however several a others types of anemones do. Although they have them going most of the way up and down.

Although they have them going most of the way up and down. Same thing with h.crispa, the verracue are under the oral disc.

Correct, I meant if you see verracue it is a mag not a bta. The spots on a mag are under the oral disc (at the very top of the foot) not near the bottom of the foot. That is probably just some color variation and not verracue.

I’m so glad you went, I was thinking about running over at lunch tomorrow to see how the others were looking. You saved me a trip.

i see there’s a clown in there, was the anemone hosting it?

I think it was just hiding, I didn’t see it leave that spot.

The staff was aggressively scrubbing/cleaning the tanks in the next rack over and I couldn’t tell whether they had done this rack too but I would assume so. Not hard to believe things were stressed.
