How low is to low and how big of a swing is acceptable? My tank runs from 7.4 at night to 7.9 of a high during the day. What's every one else's?

I noticed problems when mine got below 7.6 the only solution was a co2 scrubber. After moving I no longer had the low ph problem. Most people seem to think between 7.8 and 8.4 is an acceptable range. With sps The more stability the better so any swing would be less than ideal but I'd say a swing of less than .4 would be good to shoot for.

Are you having problems with your SPS?

I use the apex ph probe. My ph fluctuates from 8.8 to 8.6 daily. Obviously the numbers aren't right, but the fluctuations are.

Whaaaattt? Is it just me or theres noway this is right, araganite melts below 7.5 , and theres noway unless your adding c02 constantly to your tank, the probe has to be off if youe not running problems , mine swings from 8.2 to 8.4 and this is without use of kalk or reverse photo period

.5 swings daily arent going to effect anything because the animals internal ph adapts to the medium between swings, i would try keeping a window open or run an airline to your skimmer. If you dont see a change try to recalibrate

Yep my bad, I typed that wrong..I meant to say 7.94 to about 7.98 during the day

Mine goes from 7.97 to 8.24 depending on how cold my wife is:D
