Hellooo all!!

Say hello to our first occupants. I am open to name suggestions

1 x fire goby (definitely my fav so far he's so social and adorable)
1 x royal dottyback (he's a bit shy)
1 x torch coral

It was hard not to buy the whole dang store. LFS is hopefully getting in some bangai cardinals, Snowflake clowns and blennies soon so they are next on my list to add eventually. Also can't wait to start my little zoa garden.

Let's goooooo!

That is such a creative aquascape! Great job. I almost want to try something new except that my tank is 8 years old and so well established that I barely need to do water changes at this point. Ha ha, it's not easy to give that up but maybe someday? Anyway will be following.

Ha ha, I learned a long time ago that one tank at a time is best for me!

So many crazy names out there. The ones I like that I've seen are called fruitloop, scrambled eggs, rastas, blue hornet and raptor rainbow. Just so many colours to choose from. Do you have zoas? What ones are your favourite?

Hellooo all,

Got some new corals over the last few weeks including a scoly, blasto, night morph, zoas and Aussie war. My reef tank is giving reef (as hubby says)... And not just wet rocks anymore haha. Torch corals is still going really good...the movement is mesmerising.

Also got 2 bangaii cardinals (Bing and Bong) and awaiting some clownfish on order.
One of the bangaii and the fire goby (Shiloh) have this whole "Mummm, she's touching me...I'M NOT TOUCHING YOU" relationship and it's so funny to watch.

The dottyback (Bully) is in the sump living his best life because he was picking on the fire goby. I didn't realise when I got him that they can be aggressive... And he definitely is a bully. Lesson learnt. But he's thriving down there in his bachelor pad. I don't know if I'll introduce him back to the tank again once it's more stocked and established. He was a menace to catch and I don't want to have to go through that again if he starts acting up if I return him.

Seeing the corals come to life is amazing to watch. I'm having way too much fun.

Let's goooooo!

Hello all,

Little update for the tank. I think we are doing okay. Definitely an increase in algae, especially green hair algae. So I've just ordered some more snails, hermit crabs and even an urchin which I hope will help. In the mean time I'm doing water changes, trying to siphon it out as much as possible and keeping an eye on parameters. Taking deep breaths though cause I think this is all just a part of a new system and battling one thing at a time and trying not to over complicate everything.

Calcium: 460ppm
KH: 7.7dKH
Mag: 1320ppm
Nitrate: 5ppm
pH: 8.0
Phosphate: 0.02ppm
Salinity: 34.3
Tempt: 25.4

So I think these are good numbers. At least for phosphate and nitrate in terms of algae growth... But I'm not sure so if there's any advice gladly tell me please. Alkalinity is lower than I'd like so any help with getting it a bit higher would be greatly appreciated.

Corals seem to be doing great. Which I'm really proud of because I was so scared of them at the begging of this whole journey. I have gotten a couple more hammers, another scoly and a dragon soul favia over the last few weeks. I also got a gsp frag but he hasn't grown at all. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong there because I had read lots that they can be almost weed like. I am wanting to grow it on the back wall so I placed the frag up against the back. But yeah, he just isn't growing out. But that's okay. No rush.

I have also gotten 2 clownfish. They are adorable but they just hang out at the back of the tank near the power head and I barely see them. Weird home but you do you boo.

I think next fish I would like would be something that has a bit more movement around the tank... So maybe one spot foxface, tomini tang, wrasse are all ones I'm considering. I'd love a dwarf angel like coral beauty or bi-colour but I'm not keen on them eating my corals...

Anyhoo... Thanks for still being here. But someone please take my bank card off me.

Let's goooooo!!
