Hey everyone. Wife and I are wanting to ditch our glass tops on our 125 non drilled tank. We would love the mesh screen tops, but we've got lights and hob filters mounted on the back of our tank.

It's 72" wide and has the 3 split glass tops. What would be a good solution to this where we can cut out for the hobs?

Here's the basic photo

I would ditch hob for canister my personal choice. Hob work great in my opinion leaves an area for fish to jump. Screens would be good and can screen off around the hob. Menard lowes or bulk reef supply.

You can make your own using window frame kits and just notch out spaces for the filters. If you're feeling spendy, I'm sure one of the acrylic/mesh lid companies could make some custom panels for you.

I bought some mesh from a fish store, a window diy kit from my hardware store and I believe my plastic handles are Seapora. I made my own lids. The back portion is just a ceiling tile that I cut. Everything was done using a dremel, as I don’t usually do diy and didn’t have any other tools.

Here is what it looks like
(on the last picture, the lid has since been cut to the right side. It needed adjustment after adding new equipment) :

You could make your screen top to fully cover the tidals as well. Just a few more 90° to cover it.

Red Sea makes a DIY screen top that you can customize to the tank. Ryan and Randy at BRS both said it was higher quality and more user friendly than their own branded product. If you need more angles than come with the kit, you can also purchase them separately. Just a thought.
