I have a 55 gallon that's going to be all LPS. I just got my LEDs in yesterday and was wondering how high off the tank I should hang them?

It really depends on a lot of different factors. What is the size of the led fixture compared to the size of the tank? Are the lenses 90 degree lenses for penetration, or 120 or something similar designed for diffusion and light spread? Your best bet, especially if you are feeling overwhelmed, is to start 8" -12" over the water and raise and lower till you hitva sweet spot of minimizing shadows and dark spots without getting tons of light spill.

I have 2 of the Chinese black boxes with 120 degree lenses. I'll start with 12". Thanks for the response
