hello,

i picked up another AWESOME mag yesterday, and decided i need more light! i currently have a 220g (72x24x30) mixed reef (2 mags & a gig) running w/ 3x hydra 52's located in the canopy about 9" above the water....

there is too much shadowing, and i need more par!!! may i have some some supplemental lighting ideas please!

1. i do not want a chiller, so ho mh's

2. i want to keep the 3x 52's, and would prefer adding more led's.

so.... i thought about possibly....

a. reefbrite xho or tech 60" strip... not sure on par output and color spectrum?i like the blue'ish pop, but not totally blue.

b. adding 2x 80w t5... maybe either aruba sun or giesemann razor... down side would be heat and changing bulbs. would it be worth it?

c. add 3x more hydra 52's... the down side there would be cost, and having 3 more lights...

d. ???? any other ideas?

how do you all light your tanks for mags and gigs?

My tank is 72x33x20. I run four of the 165 watt sunspect leds 13 inches from surface. My gig has done very well for 6 months since switching over from my mh. I run them at 40 white and 65 blue with a mix of lps and sps.You might be able to supplement at a lower cost. Just a thought.
