This may be a difficult question to answer but I’m curious if there is different ph ranges with different types of lighting?
Meaning is the ph rise with LEDs running the same as say metal halides or T5’s
I don’t seem to be getting the same amount of growth under T5’s as I was when I used metal halides.
I unfortunately didn’t test par when I ran halides but my T5’s are in the 250-400ish range. I have growth but not as aggressive growth as with the halides. I know there are many factors that affect growth but I’m primarily focused on ph. If you put LEDs over a tank , will the ph be similar as if you ran halides instead?
mph seems to be a big item right now and I’m wondering if one switched lighting if that would bump ph for better growth ?

IMHO, the switch from one type of light fixture to a different one (assuming a similar PAR and spectrum) your pH should not change much, if at all.

More par might/would increase photosynthesis, consuming co2 and raising ph.
But as @Ron Reefman said, if par and spectrum are equal, should make no difference.

Thanks for your reply.
I figured as much but with my lack of testing on my first system and using different lighting I thought it was worth asking.

The pH change is from photosynthesis and gas exchange. While lighting output, spectrum and distribution can affect photosynthesis, it does not directly have anything to do with pH.

Nothing moves pH more than airborne co2 in your home... all the other things combined, even.
