Lighting for 125g

Like jon said, the best t5 imo is the 6x60" retro. Ran one for yrs on my 125g, could keep anything anywhere. But moved on to a 3x250w mh retro. It is MUCH better for a 125g. Think about this. Once a year i replace my bulb's so MH is 180bux, for 6-60" t5's 150bux but for 14 t5's....heck no 322 bux. The 60" t5's are going to penetrate better as well. But imo your much better with the mh's.

Wow I never thought about using a smaller light. I will have to take that into consideration. I don't think I'll be going MH because of the heat issue mainly. That is still in the air though. Going to look at some shorter t5 fixtures now, but not sure if it would be long enough for the idea I have, IDK why italicize turned on -_-

Harry Y, do you run the tek light now ?

Yes I Just got that light a couple of weeks ago
already the corals are getting more colorfull

nayrg, fwiw when i switched from 600w of t5 to 750w of mh's it was easier for me to control the heat. MH's are easier to control than t5's imo as the t5's are closer to the water than mh's. But thats a whole other discussion : )
