I know I’ll get a lot of different responses to this one (I’m hoping, so I’ll learn something),
but what light would you recommend for a 30 gallon breeder. I have a orbit marine
current USA, but I’ll like to upgrade. I have soft corals and I heard an upgrade light would be
better. I would prefer something that sits on top of the tank like the way the current usa light does.
I’ll like to spent about 500-600 dollars. Thx for all your help.

The dimensions of your tank would be helpful, but off the top of my head an AI Prime or Hydra would probably work.
36x18 but only 12 deep so pretty shallow tank. T-5 an option? If I was looking for future stony coral i would go kessil 160 x 2

Sure, although for mainly soft corals you don't necessarily need something quite as powerful as a T5 setup.

Is your 40 breeder 36 inches in length? is the 24-v2 24 inches?
I guess it still covers yr tank. Thank you.

The tank is 36" long, yes. The Photon 24 is 23.5" and is mean for 28"-36" tanks. I have mine hanging from the ceiling but they come with legs as well:

I’ll probably use the legs. Can‘t hang it from the ceiling. I’m ordering it tonight. Thx for your patient and help.

I would either do a reefbreeder or 2 AI Primes. I find the primes to be much easier to play with but that’s just my own opinion. I have a reefbreeder now and while I think it’s a solid light, I miss the visual graphs that I had with my primes

You have the wifi enabled Photon? Mine are app controlled.

I do not. I would have noted that but did not realize the newer gen had that capability!
You can buy the Reef Nexus Integration Kit and upgrade your light(s) to Pro. The Pro's already have the kit installed. The app has been getting new features and updates regularly. You can export/import settings and all that jazz.

For the 24 V2 pro. I would like to set the 6 light settings, but can I manually
turn the lights on and off when I feel like it. Instead of setting the
various time schedules.

Yeah... You can use manual override in the app and set the channels to whatever you like (including off) for whatever amount of time you want. When that time expires the lights will turn back on at whatever point in the schedule you're at. Say you're watching a 2 hour movie and the tank lights are bothering you. Pop open the app, hit manual override and set all channels off for 2 hours.
